When a patient is transferred from one room to another, orders that may have been dispensed by pharmacy may now be dispensed from an automatic dispensing machine. Orders that may have been dispensed from floor stock may now have to be dispensed from the pharmacy. In Ascend IP, a Room is tied to a Floor Stock area. If a patient is transferred to a new Room, it is possible that the Room is tied to a different Floor Stock area with different items stocked in it than the previous one. In this example, a patient has been transferred to a new room. His original orders were:
So, the Temazepam (Order Type = Floor Stock Unit Dose) was dispensed from Floor Stock, the Vicodin (Order Type = Unit Dose) was dispensed by pharmacy. After transferring a patient to a new room, run the Rewrite Active Orders command from the Order Functions menu:
A warning appears:
Click OK The system asks for the DC Date of the orders:
Ascend IP alerts you if an order is NOT loaded in the new room's Floor Stock area. In this case, the new room is linked to a Floor Stock area called "CRASH CART".
There is no warning message for an item changing from Unit Dose to Floor Stock Unit Dose. The new profile shows the Temazepam as Unit Dose and the Vicodin as Floor Stock.
