| New
and Improved Features:
You will be installing ALL prior releases that have been posted since your current program version. Therefore, use the "View All Updates" link (above) to review ALL of the releases that may affect you. Your current program version appears at the top of your Ascend-IP screen (in "yyyymmddhhmm" format). |
Dosage calculation options: In each formulary record, you can now preset a "Calculation Default" that determines which dosage field, if any, will be used to calculate the dosage amount displayed on labels and MARs. (Example: for a concentration of 15MG/10ML: If [Dose] is chosen --> "2 X 15MG = 30MG dose"; If [Per] is chosen --> "2 X 10ML = 20ML dose".) You can also select [None] to omit a dosage calculation for this drug altogether. The [Dose] field is the default unless you specify otherwise. If a pre-selected dosage field has a value of "0", the calculation will not be displayed on labels/MARs.
Order Entry screen: The <Cancel> button was moved to the left of the screen to prevent accidental selection by the user.
Check-boxes have been added to each doctor's record so you can prevent selected doctors from ordering controlled substances in schedules 2, 3, 4 or 5 (a new JCAHO requirement). By default, doctor records are unrestricted until you check one or more of these boxes.
The profile views have been updated as follows: "Active/Inactive" now includes both active orders and pending (inactive) orders, if any, on one screen. "Held/Cancelled" orders will include orders that are on hold, and orders that were cancelled.
A new "Cancelled" order status has been added to the program. Cancelled orders are now retained and can be reviewed as needed. Cancelled orders will not otherwise appear on routine reports, profiles, MARs, etc. Cancelled orders cannot be edited. To review a patient's "cancelled" orders, select the "Held/Cancelled" view on the main profile. Note: You cannot "cancel" an order once a label has been printed, or a dose has been charged. You can, however, "discontinue" the order.
IV Antibiotic Active Orders report: (1) added a "Yes" or "No" column indicating whether the patient is on other oral meds (2) added the Creatinine clearance to the report.
For SQL users, added ability to use a connection string and not require a Data Source Name in the workstation's Control Panel >> ODBC Connections area.
Stop Order notices: (1) allow the user to specify custom, multi-line text at the top (header) and the bottom (footer) of each page (2) now includes a check box with each header/footer option to allow "Bold" print or not (3) moved the name of the report "Stop Order Notices" to the top of the page above the hospital name/address. (4) Made the report name larger/bolder.
The calculation on the "Utilization" reports now matches the calculation found on the "Charge" reports. Both use a "rounded up" calculation: 0.75 x 4 = "4" (0.75 rounded up to 1 for the calculation) vs. "3" (the exact fractional calculation) for more realistic utilization data.
Readmit function (ADT): the Doctor now carries over from the previous admission record to the new record.
Dosage Field and Charge Code Utility Tools: A new tool is available to help users add missing dosage field values to their formulary records. The tool is located under "Utilities" menu-->Maintenance Tools--> Formulary Batch Updates. A separate "Charge code swap" option is also available to users who are converting from one set of hospital information system charge codes to another set. Contact HOS before attempting to use either of these new batch functions.
Database maintenance: A "rules" engine is now available to automate typical database maintenance chores according to criteria you create, save and reuse. These are found under "Utilities" menu-->Maintenance Tools--> Maintenance Schedule. Contact HOS for assistance in setting up your database maintenance rules.
Unit Dose labels and prompts now display 2 dispensing quantity calculations: one based on fractional quantity per dose values, and one based on "rounded-up" values.
Order History Log: (1) deletion of an ingredient is now logged (2) "Group Order Status Changes" are now being logged (3) Multiple selected orders that are all DC'd in one step are all properly logged now (bug fix).
New Clinical Checks: Added new clinical checks for Pediatric (under 18 years), Geriatric (greater then 60 years), Pregnant, and Lactating patients. Use the "Utilities" menu-->"Options"-->"Clinical Reviews" tab to turn these checks on or off. Pregnancy/Lactation warnings are performed only if you have also checked the appropriate boxes in the patient's ADT record.
ER/Misc Charges (Charges menu): A new column displaying the patient's "Previous room/bed" has been added to the patient selection list for your reference.
MAR: (1) added the patient's date of birth (JCAHO requires two identifiers for patent identification) (2) added an ability to differentiate between Unit Dose PRN's and IV PRN's so they can print in different sections of the MAR if desired (see Utilities-->Options-->MAR tab) (3) the date format on the 14-Day MAR columns was changed to 'dd/mm' (4) Blank MAR: Removed column headers so that the nurses can write in the desired date.
Laboratory Results: Added ability to delete laboratory test entries on the Lab Setup form.
Outpatient label: added ability to prints both drug names if the option in the formulary is checked.
Added a "Select Patient" button to the ADT (Admission) detail screen
Fill Lists: (1) added ability to rerun Catch-up Fill Lists (2) DC'd meds are now grouped at the end of each patient's list (3) added a warning if the date criteria exceeds 7 days into the future.
Order rewrite options: added a combination option for "Quantity/Dose/Per" because the individual "Strength" and "Mls" rewrite options were eliminated.
Order detail screen, charge transactions: The sort order for charge transactions listed on the Order detail screen has been changed to display the most recent charges/credits first.
Price Rules Report: added User-Defined information.
Dosage fields are now being appended to the drug names in all charge reports and charge methods (Dept Cost Transfers, ER/Misc and Floor Stock charge areas, Floor Stock Inventory report, etc.).
| Corrections:
Note: Many of the corrections listed below were made in a previous version, but were not documented until the release of this version. |
Fixed issue with "Give At" interpretation of the SIG. Commas that appeared after the intended dosage times would cause the program to not schedule the last intended dosage time.
Report: "Orders with No Charge Code" did not work for items that had been entered manually. The report will now display the profile description when no formulary item description is available.
Reports: "Patient Profile" and "Patient Profile Summary": The report header now prints at the top of each page. Also, page numbers now reset with each new patient.
Fixed charge reports default for "Stop Room".
Drug Utilization Reports: Report totals are now correct.
Fixed run-time error # 3021 "No Current Record" when clicking on Charges-->Charge/Credit Order after order cancelled.
Floor stock charges: (1) header information over floor stock item list is no longer cut off (2) enabled the hot key for Alt + D (Inventory Area Description).
Fixed issue where billing-units fractional calculation of charges was sometimes incorrect.
Misspelled "HIPPA" corrected to "HIPAA" in the Help menus
Stop Order Notices: Compile error in hidden module error fixed.
Fixed run-time error 3075 while viewing some drug interaction monographs.
Route "IJ" eliminated from FirstDataBank import/update. FDB "IJ" routes were being used in AIP tables. Instead, if the FDB route is "IJ" we leave the AIP route blank " ". This is an important medication safety issue: be sure to remove "IJ" from your route list.
Fixed error calculating AWP pricing during First Databank updates.
Security: The option setting of "View only" for "Charges" is now saved properly.
Incorrect crediting of doses with a future date as been corrected.
Labels menu: "Customize" was removed.
Fixed issue with Drug-Food Interaction for monograph titled "Beta-blockers/food interaction".
"Facilities" tab in Utilities no longer exists. "Database Corrupted" message now advises a workstation update.
