New and Improved Features:

Route code "IJ" (Injection) eliminated from AIP lists: This route can be interpreted in several ways, potentially leading to errors. Users should replace the "IJ" route with another route (or leave it blank) in their formulary records.

MARs: (1) Added ability to print ***Last Page*** when the end of a patients MAR is reached. (2) Made allergies and SIG print bold. (3) Added effective period (times) in column headers for blank MARs. (4) Added option to show AHFS code (5) Added IV rate field to MAR for IV type orders. (6) Defaults for Copies/Collate in option settings. (7) Added ability for users to control whether orders that have reached their stop date will continue to appear. (8) Added ability to print user defined 'No Dose' text when no doses are scheduled for a particular period (e.g. QOD orders). (9) Ability to use new dosage fields [described below]. Please review/set the new option settings for the MAR in the Utilities --> Options --> MAR tab before printing MARs again.

Dosage fields: Option to use separate 'dosage' fields (e.g., separate strength, volume and unit of measure fields). These options may be necessary for certain interfaces that require separate 'dosage' fields (e.g., Pyxis "profiling", QRS, etc.). With these options turned on, strength/volume information can be removed from the drug description because AIP appends the dose fields to the drug description. Example: Change formulary description from "AMPICILLIN 250MG CAP" to "AMPICILLIN CAP" and add the "dose" fields "250" and "MG". On orders/MARs, the fields would be joined to appear as "AMPICILLIN CAP 250MG". With these options turned on, during order entry you can edit one field (e.g., the strength, volume or quantity) and AIP will automatically recalculate the other dependent fields). Example: Edit the "250" to "500" and the quantity/dose will change from "1" to "2" capsules. Corresponding changes were made to reports, order entry forms, etc. to support these dosage fields/options.

Automatic dosage instructions for labels/MARs: When the ingredient quantity per dose is not "1", the program can automatically include dosage information on the MAR/label for nurses. Example: "AMPICILLIN CAP 250MG" with the quantity per dose = "2" and the Sig reading "500MG QID"...the MAR would show the Sig as "500MG QID" (on line 1) with "2 x 250MG = 500MG DOSE" (on line 2). This feature eliminates the need for users to manually type in dosage instructions for nurses. This feature is effective when the option to use dosage fields (described above) is turned "on".

Patient Select Box: (1) Added ability to search for orders based on order number or Rx number. (2) The list now automatically sorts by patient account number or by room when you search by patient account number or by room, respectively. (3) The room search now allows the user to search by room AND bed.

Clinical review screen: (1) Duplicate and drug interaction order warnings now include the order reference number and item description of the problem order (2) Added option to discontinue new duplicate order or old duplicate order.

Allergies: (1) Changed allergy checking to use new, more extensive, First Databank HICL allergy codes and (2) Checks for interactions against existing active orders when entering patient allergies. (3) Simplified choices and allergy lists for allergy entry.

Weight (on ADT screen): Edit either weight value (lb or kg) and have the program calculate the alternate unit of measure.

Reports: The list of reports reappears after you finish with a report.

Utilities menu-->Options: (1) "Print a reminder label upon patient discharge" (i.e., label content: "This patient is discharged. Do not prepare any IV's for them"). (2) "Order items must come from the formulary" (i.e., requires a formulary item be selected before the description can be altered...prevents entry of "free text" that does not point to a real formulary record.).

IV Labels/Batch IVs: Added the (1) Ability to print "catch-up" labels for batch IV Labels. (2) Facility phone number to IV labels. (3) Option to sort batch IV labels by 'Order Description' rather than by 'Room' (the default).

SIG times will over-ride standard administration times: If the user enters a Sig containing the phrase "GIVE AT " followed by one or more administration times, the order will automatically schedule with these times [i.e.,over-riding the normal administration times]. The format of the time can be "hhmm" or "hh:mm" [e.g., "GIVE AT 1230" or "GIVE AT 12:30"]. Multiple dosage times can be included if separated with commas [e.g., "TID (GIVE AT 12:00, 18:00, 23:30)" will schedule the order three times per day at those times].

Formulary options: (1) Default SIGs using the format "GIVE AT hhmm" or "GIVE AT hh:mm" will automatically schedule an order as described above (2) Option to "Use drug description #2 on MARs/Labels" was changed to "Show both drug names on MARs/Labels". [Regardless of whether you choose description #1 or 2 for order entry, with this option on, the alternate description will also be included on the MAR/label].

Food-Drug Interaction reports: (1) Three report types; based on (a) Clinical Review results (b) First Databank data or (c) Formulary user-defined field. (2) Added several new filtering options (3) Added option to include a Patient Education Monograph will all FD interaction reports.

Clinical Review reports: (1) Date filters now work properly (2) Added 3 report filter options: (a) "Completed" - includes completed reviews only, regardless of outcome data; (b) "Completed w/outcome" - includes completed alerts only if outcome data is present" (c) "ALL" - ignores completion status. (3) Added new report - "Clinical Review Statistics".

Security table: Added field for "Charges" to control who can process charges. Applied new setting to Charges forms.

MARs via right mouse: When viewing a MAR via the right-click order menu you can select the effective period for the MAR (e.g., 0 = today).

Rewrite Active Orders function: uses the current (edited) patient-profile parameters to rewrite orders rather than the original order entry defaults.

Quantity prompt: The optional message box prompt that asked you to enter an item quantity (after the ingredient was selected) has been replaced. Now, when the option is turned on, the cursor simply jumps to the quantity field to the right of the ingredient name. If this option is not turned on, pressing <Enter> after selecting the ingredient will move the cursor to the next blank ingredient line. You can also press the <Tab> key to move from the ingredient field to the quantity field...and to other fields for that ingredient line, with additional <Tab> presses.

Room list utility: New features make it easier to change sort order: (1) Directly edit the sort field value (2) Prompts for sort order value when adding a room. (3) Automatically resorts the room list upon exit if the user does not do so.

ER/Miscellaneous and Floor Stock charges: (1) retains option settings from one session to another (2) Added "qty out of range" warning when entering charge values greater than '99' (ER/Misc) or '9' (Floor stock).

Charge/Credit from MAR: changed the sort order to make it easier to use when more than one patient occupies a room within a 24 hour period.

Discharged patient report options added: How many days should DC patients appear on Fill List and IV Summary reports.

IV Summary Detail Report: (1) now includes ward (2) default setting for Start/Stop Room (3) option for no page break per patient.

Verify IV Due Times: a new icon and menu option (Order Functions-->Verify IV Due Times). Lists only IV solution/IV admixture orders; select orders from the list to modify scheduled IV doses, or to DC IV orders.

Export charges: 2 new vendor charge file formats (CHS and Intermed).

Stop Order Notices and MAR reports: defaults for Copies/Collate in option settings area for Stop Orders and MAR.

Order entry from common order lists: checks to see if drug is on floor stock (i.e., same as regular order entry).

Schedule Maintenance screen: (1) Added "transmitted date/time" and "type of charge". (2) you can now reschedule doses as long as the charge has not been transmitted.

Options: Under menu Utilities-->Options (1) Administration times: the list is now sorted (2) Option to print DC warning labels for unit dose orders, similar to those for DC'd IV orders.

Patient Profile Summary: (1) defaults to "Patients in Beds" and "A"ctive orders/patients. (2) segregation of orders by MAR section.

Follow-up reminders: when you check the "follow-up" box, the program now inserts the current date/time. (Fixed error).

Discharge groups of patients: new menu feature (Patients-->Discharge Patients) makes it easier to DC several patients at a time from a list.

Extemporaneous labels: uses the Custom Label printer default.

Charges Not Transmitted report: Added 'Patient Charge' data.

Prevent order entry options: Prevent entering an order if fields are missing (e.g., allergies, weight, height, etc.), (Utilities-->Options-->Admissions)

Outpatient Prescription Log report: (1) includes initials of "Entered/Verified By" (2) Enables date filters when printing for a single patient (3) Added DEA code filter.

Formulary: If "billing units" field contains a number other than "1", the "Patient charge1" field appears in red to remind the user that the "patient charge1" field does not represent "1" unit of use as it usual would.

Formulary Pricing screen: Added a filter for formulary "User defined" fields.

Catch-up fill-list backup report: Once the Catch-up fill-list runs, it cannot be rerun for the same orders/time period (e.g., if the printer fails, etc). Alternative: Use the "Order Information" report with the report filters set as follows: (a) Order status: "Active" (b) Order enter date: <enter the date/time the last fill-list was run> (c) Order enter stop: <enter the current date/time> (d) Patient type: this would usually be "patients in beds", or "all patients" (e) Order type: "Unit dose" The remaining filters should be "ALL".

Credits exceed charges warning: All charge/credit buttons and menu options warn the user if total credits exceed total charges, and allows the user to retry or cancel.

Verify Orders list: (1) Includes a new column to indicate the type of activity you are verifying...."A" (new orders) vs. "D" (discontinued orders). (2) Sorts a DC'd order and its corresponding new order to appear together on the list, if an order edit has resulted in a new order being created.

Creatinine Clearance: (1) revised calculation no longer uses 0.9 as the minimum for Scr (2) automatically uses the "Schwartz" method for pediatric patients."

Daily Dosage range for adults: displayed with the ingredient list during order entry (i.e., at the far right of each formulary item line).

Common order entry: (1) Uses formulary defaults for "expiration hours/days" (2) Populates "ordering doctor" with patient's admitting doctor if no doctor pre-specified within common order. (3) Easier and more flexible selection/unselection process (4) Choose from different groups of common orders during one session.

Patient Education Monographs for Outpatient prescriptions: (1) Added option to print PEM monographs in an "outpatient Rx" format that differs from inpatient monographs (Right mouse on order--> "Outpatient Order Monograph") (2) this OP monograph is also available when printing outpatient labels.

Starter dose calculations for order entry: The number of starter doses that you need to send on order entry can now be specifically calculated even if you have complex fill-list print schedules or if you print multiple IV batches per day. Contact your technical support representative if you would like advice on how to set this up. [See "Utilities menu"-->"Options:" --> "Labels/IVs" tab AND "Fill-list" tab].

Merge function: (1) Copies allergies and diagnoses to target patient record if not already duplicated. (2) Added option to discharge source profile.

Admission screen: When adding a new doctor, room, or insurance company record "on-the-fly", AIP automatically selects the newly recorded value for the current patient profile, saving you the extra steps to do so.

Corrections:

Note: Many of the corrections listed below were made in a previous version, but were not documented until the release of this version.

Outpatient labels: prints "Remaining Refills" rather than "Refills".

Fixed error # 3163 when trying to rename Common Order Groups with apostrophes.

Fixed error trying to print IV Antibiotic Active Orders Report.

Now checking order stop dates when viewing reports via right-click from patient profile screen.

Removed the "Charges-->Process Charges" menu option (Replaced with the "Charges Transmitted" report).

"Dose Totals" report: now uses the report filters.

Add ingredient to order: will no longer automatically reschedule the order.

Fixed error where AIP erroneously reported "Your First Databank database needs to be repaired before you can continue".

Fixed report 'Formulary w/ No Prices' error, when sorting by AHFS Code.

Fixed error '2105' when you delete the last scheduled dose from the Schedule Maintenance screen.

Added error trapping to Schedule Maintenance screen (error occured if user entered wrong scheduled time format).

Fixed SQL error '3622' when selecting a patient from the Floor Stock charge screen.

"Charge for Printed Labels" option: This charge option (Labels-->IV Batch) will now properly match the Utilities option to "Charge on dispensing' for "Neither UD nor IV" order types.

Fixed Outpatient Order Error #13 Type Mismatch when deleting costs, charge fields.

Fixed Run-time error # 3021; 'no current record' when changing order status from discontinued to active.

Trapped for ingredients quantity = 0 or blank during order entry. Value must not = 0 (caused fill lists to halt).

Fixed error when PRN Orders were Renewed, no longer Scheduling.

Reports screen: first focus is on the Reports list rather than the "Printers" list to avoid inadvertent, unwanted printer selection changes.

Fixed printer error when Unit dose label used two labels while showing 2nd drug description.

Fixed Clinical Review report error (it incorrectly printed patient's name when report was printed from the patient's profile).

Fixed error on clinical review screen where ALT key combinations (hot keys) were used by more than one field.

MAR reports effective period: (1) Users cannot change the "time" for the effective start/stop period since these times are pre-defined in the Utilities-->Options area. (2) If users edit the effective dates (not the times), be sure the start/stop dates still specify the same duration (e.g., 1 day, 3 day, etc) as their MAR is configured for, or they may obtain erroneous results.

Fixed error that occura as a result of leaving the last digit off a date field on a new order screen e.g., "03/14/2002 17:0".

MARs: Fixed problem where multiple allergies and/or diagnoses overwrote the column headers.

Reports: When specifying the number of copies (other than 1) you can now uncheck the "Collate" box more easily.

Credit on discharge: Fixed error of omission when Inactive and Hold orders were being ignored when patient was discharged.
