How to Add a Floor Stock Inventory Area

At order entry, upon selecting an item, the program checks to see if the room# for the patient has been assigned a Floor Stock List (Utilities/Room List).

A pop-up warning is issued if the Quantity Warning box has been checked for the Inventory Area assigned to this room and the item selected is not on the list or the inventory balance for the item is '0'. Select 'Yes' to dispense the item as a Unit Dose (non-Floor Stock) order type. Select 'No' to dispense a different item.

* Facilities that don't do Pyxis profiling on all wards can leave the Quantity Warning box unchecked for certain inventory areas allowing items that may be dispensed as Floor Stock for some rooms to be automatically dispensed as Unit Dose for others.

Check this box to ensure that items NOT pre-assigned a Floor Stock Order Type in Utilities/Formulary/Defaults will be dispensed as Floor Stock Unit Dose/IV order types. This will occurr if the item selected is on the Floor Stock Inventory list assigned to the patient's room/bed.

An item that will always be dispensed as Floor Stock should be assigned a Floor Stock Order Type in Utilities/Formulary/Defaults.
