Manually Updating First Databank Tables
As part of the monthly licensing fee, we distribute First Databank files containing clinical and pricing data and add them to your Ascend-HI database. These files contain information such as a Master NDC table with relevant information pertaining to drugs/supplies that have been assigned a NDC. Other information included in these files is: Average Wholesale Price, Drug-Drug Interactions, Drug-Allergy Interactions, Duplicate Therapy Warnings, etc. These files are distributed monthly via our website and it is important to keep your database up-to-date with the latest First Databank data.
In some cases, clients may receive their updates directly from First Databank instead of from Hann's On Software. Part of Ascend-HI's update process, moves the files that Hann's On Software has received and inserts the data into your database. If you receive your update files directly from First Databank, you will need to follow the steps below to update your database and ensure the data is inserted correctly.
The first thing you should do is perform a program complete program update and make sure the update completes successfully and the First Databank files that Hann's On Software distributes are inserted without any errors.
First Databank
As long as the files are in the Ascend-HI\Update folder, the update program should be able to read them and move the data into the Ascend-HI database. Some of the First Databank files have been padded with blank spaces at the end of each line. Before we distribute the files to clients, we go through and clean them of the extra spaces. If you are using files directly from First Databank, you may also need to remove any blank spaces after the last character on a line.
