Calculating First Databank Billing Units

Example 1:  Bulk Item

In this example, Active Syrup is purchased in bulk, a 3840 ML bottle, which is about one gallon.

The pharmacy divides the 3850 ML bottle into individual 150 ML bottles for distribution to patients.

The patient receives and is charged for one 150 ML bottle, but the schedule of 4 times per day appears on the MAR.

This example shows how to setup the Inventory to make this happen.

First, Add a new Inventory item, click on First Databank, search for Active Syrup, import the package size that is 3840.

Click on the ellipse, the button with the ... on it, to bring up the calculator:

We know that we are going to take the 3840 ML bottle and prepare individual 150 ML bottles, so change the 1 Unit Per to 150.

This automatically sets the strength and the Units Multiplier

Click OK.

Notice the FDB Billing unit is filled in.

Change the Strength and Per as appropriate, in this case, we will change the Per to 150.

Edit the remainder of the Inventory screen and Save.

To enter an inpatient order for this item, it needs to be scheduled with a charge method of Manual.
