1759 Rewrite Order: New Function

If something in an active order needs to change, the order can be DC'd and rewritten in one step using a new function called Rewrite Order.  For example, if the Physician Instructions change, or the dose changes.

You can define which fields in the order will force the order to be rewritten in order to change them.  Once these fields are defined, they will become view only in an active order.  In order to change one of those fields, hit the Rewrite button at the bottom of the screen.

You will be prompted to confirm:

Once in the new order screen, all the fields will be enabled, and you can edit any of them.

Options let you define which fields require the order be rewritten.
Under Utilities / Options / Order Entry Tab, on the right hand side of the screen is a list, change the list to Inpatient Rewrite Fields, or Outpatient Rewrite Fields.

Check any of the items that you want to be unable to edit once the order is saved.

This screen will set permissions for an individual user or a group of users to restrict access to creating orders of a certain order type.

Setting permissions for an individual, go to Utilities / Security - Users
Setting them for a group, go to Utilities / Security - Groups.

On either screen, go to the Permissions Tab.  Choose Order Type Categories from the Security Object Types.

Select the user or group whose permissions you want to modify.  Then, select the item from the list.  In this example, I want to restrict access to Outpatient Prescriptions.

You can check or uncheck the boxes per your requirements.  The choices are either No Permissions, View Permissions, or Full Permissions.  If you check only one of Create, or Edit, or Delete, you will still have Full Permissions.  Click OK when done.
